Professor Peter A. Kaplony (1933–2011) studied Old History, Egyptology
and Arabic literature at the Universities of Zurich and Basel.
He earned his PhD in 1959. From 1970 to 2000 he was assistant Professor of Egyptology in Zurich. His main interests were inscriptions of the Predynastic time and the Old Kingdom.
