Autor: Sophie Kruijssen
Dr. Sophie Kruijssen studied Art History at the Radboud University Nijmegen (B.A.) and Utrecht University (M.A.) in The Netherlands, before receiving her PhD degree in Art History from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich with her thesis “Patterns of reception: the early nineteenth-century German reception of British genre painting in its European context“. She is particularly interested in the transnational exchange of ideas, images, styles and concepts in art around 1800. In her publications, she explores the broader mechanisms behind local artistic developments. For this purpose she combines classical art-historical approaches with techniques from other disciplines, such as phylogenetic methods from evolutionary biology.
