This novella takes a humourous look at a man of sixty undergoing a delayed mid-life crisis. A chance meeting on a plane to Amsterdam leads to him having an affair. The consequences for him and his lover are by turns grim but also very funny. Issues relating to social class, the delicate betrayals of married life and religious hypocrisy are light-heartedly explored.
