Painting Behind Itself follows two ongoing series by artist Melissa Gordon, Blow Up Modernists and Material Evidence, from studio to exhibition. The process, relationships, and staging of Gordon’s paintings and silkscreens are contextualized in their own making and critical discourse with a text by Oliver Zybok, an interview between Roos Gortzak and Melissa Gordon, and the essay “Painting Behind Itself” by Eva Kenny.
