A Dictionary of Indian English

with a supplement on word-formation patterns

von

This dictionary of Indian English was originally compiled by the late Uwe Carls, an internationally known expert in the field of varieties of South Asian English, and then slightly revised and edited by his former colleagues Peter Lucko, Lothar Peter and Frank Polzenhagen. The three have long been concerned with issues of the variation of English in general and lexical nativisation processes in particular.

The current book is an exclusive dictionary of English in India, i.e., it has extensive coverage of the lexical peculiarities of Indian English. Furthermore, a striking and unique feature of the dictionary is the systematic treatment of Indian English word-formations. Thus, the book offers a detailed supplement of word-formation patterns in this variety of the English language.
