ELENI PAPPA TSANTILIS

Born in Greece (1962), I live and work in Switzerland.
I work the oil and the acrylic where I include natural pigments and organic elements as paper, textile, sand, sawdust, apparently not belonging to the pictorial world, to provide more depth and complexity to her paintings. To apply the colours I use brushes, knives, handmade squeegees, sponges or her hands. My paintings have several layers. After applying the paint, I drag and scrape up layers of wet or dry paint leaving marks. That gives a nice “used” effect and creates the story of the work.
Material, colour and composition, a perpetual challenge to create something new.
Expressing myself creatively has always been an essential part of my life. I‘ve always been guided by the creativity and the curiosity.
My inspiration comes from people I meet, images I see, information I hear at home or when travelling.
My works are in private collections all over the world.
