Hanna Burow

von ,

The publication Hanna Burow represents the first overview of the work of the New York-based artist Johanna Tiedtke, who uses a whole variety of media, ranging from painting and photography across numerous graphic arrangements all the way to large three-dimensional installations. The title of the catalogue relates to a very personal background story. The name ‘Hanna Burow’ has accompanied Johanna Tiedtke since her childhood. Burow was the maiden name of her great-grandmother. On the basis of the latter’s story, Johanna Tiedtke investigates the handing down, from one generation to the next, of traumas, of the unspoken, and she examines the question of how the artist’s own generation deals with these matters.
