Markus Lüpertz Kunst, die im Wege steht

Markus Lüpertz (b. 1941) is one of the most significant proponents of German post-war art. In MKM Museum Küppersmühle the painter and sculptor is presented in a monographic show focusing on the juxtaposition of his large picture cycles as well as featuring current approaches to his creative output. In these picture cycles Lüpertz combines over and again his expressively morphed and abstracted bodies with mythological thematic blocks and in doing so conveys a new viewpoint on classical forms of representation. The accompanying publication documents this impressive show of Lüpertz’s work, expertly complementing it with scholarly texts and large-format illustrations.
