Since it was founded in 1997, the Berliner Unterwelten Society’s underground explorations have unearthed a number of traces relating to Inspector General of Buildings Albert Speer’s redevelopment plans. Alongside these relics, there exist less tangible consequences of the Inspector General’s activities – the dispossession and deportation of Jewish Berliners and the demolition of historic city quarters. The ] Mythos Germania [ exhibition presents these „shadows“ together with the „traces“ – the ‚Schwerbelastungskoerper‘, the axis intersection tunnel, Teufelsberg and many more. This book contains additional superimposed maps and indices of names and places to assist visitors and readers in their own explorations in and around Berlin.
