Oda Jaune

Heartland

von ,

In the newly published volume Heartland, Oda Jaune dedicates a retrospective of her work to the country of her birth, Bulgaria. The companion exhibition took place in the National Gallery in Sofia. This extensive catalogue features a selection of works by the Paris-based artist, which are characterized by complex visual worlds that fluctuate between beauty and disturbance. The publication also documents the monumental sculpture The Caress, which was temporarily placed in a variety of places throughout the country, opening up an intense dialogue between art and nature in public space. Along with works from the early phase of her career, the comprehensive monograph also features current paintings, sculptures, and watercolors, accompanied by essays. MICHAELA DANOVSKA (*1979, Sofia) was given her pseudonym, ODA JAUNE, by her husband, Jörg Immendorf. The artist was a graduate student of Immendorf’s at the Kunsthochschule Düsseldorf. Since his death in 2007, she has lived in Paris. Her pictures have been seen in more than forty solo and group shows.
