Kathrin Mechler’s work, electrifying with its highly emotional fluidity, occupies as much a place in the personal context of the artist as it resonates with the spectator.
With a background in painting and a Graphic Design education at the prestigious Université Paris 1 and the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Nice, Mechler perfected her articulation of continuities and discontinuities in sculpting. Her clay sculptures seem a natural development from her graphic art of earlier years into a more haptic space. The human body and face are one of her major topics. Here the details become self-sufficient once again and different angles and perspectives allow the viewer to re-experience a piece.
